 I spotted these two guys in the back yard this afternoon. I grabbed my camera and ran out the back door to the deck and started shooting photos. It turned out to be quite a show.

The standoff that lasted several minutes after I spotted them.

The Hawk left when I went running toward them to save the squirrel.
I was too late! :-(

I don't know why the hawk left the squirrel behind. He flew up to an electrical line and stayed there for a few minutes...then flew off.

Alex seemed like he was only interested in playing with the squirrel. He tossed it around a while and then came back to the house to eat....no not the squirrel...Purina Cat Chow.

It's a sad story all around. The squirrel died. The Hawk left hungry. And Alex had to play by himself.
